DARD pays out £19m overtime
By Chris McCullough

OVER the past five financial years DARD has paid out almost £19 million to its staff, both industrial and non-industrial, in overtime.
The revelation came in response to a question posed in the Assembly this week which discoverd the total overtime pay of £18.7m from 2004 to 2009.
A DARD spokesperson said: "The money was spent on necessary overtime in a range of business areas across the Department to enable services to be provided to customers in an efficient and timely way.
"It is not possible to break the payments down to specific parts of the Department without disproportionate effort and expense."
