Strong support from Republic for 2009 Winter Fair
By Chris McCullough

CATTLE breeders and trade exhibitors from the Republic of Ireland will increase their presence at this year's RUAS Winter Fair.
Launched this week the Winter Fair will take place on Thursday, December 10, in partnership with Northern Bank who are the sole sponsors of the event.
The 2009 event will have a strong presence from the South with 21 companies exhibiting, three of which are new for this year.
Many trade stands sizes have increased due to organisers creating around 200sqm additional space to accommodate demand.
New companies exhibiting this year include Tullyherron Farm Feeds Ltd, Biobest Laboratories Ltd, Agri-King, BC Plant and Principal Cooling, all of which will be in attendance alongside regular stand holders.
Speaking at the launch of the Royal Ulster Winter Fair, John Henning, head of agriculture, Northern Bank, said: "Our long-term sponsorship of the Royal Ulster Winter Fair reflects our ongoing support of the agricultural industry in Northern Ireland."
Colin McDonald, RUAS chief executive, added: "We are delighted that the Winter Fair continues to grow in popularity. It is a unique event. Visitors can see the best exhibition of livestock in the dairy sector then research the latest innovations in the industry."
Michael Heath from Maryland, USA will take up the role of Winter Fair judge this year. The RUAS expect the same high numbers of livestock entries and the public are reminded that close of entry is Wednesday, November 25 at 5pm.
Another highlight is that NIE Energy will be giving away a limited number of free energy saving light bulbs from their stand. One bulb per person on presentation of a Winter Fair catalogue, on a first come first served basis.
