More than 50 jobs go at Redrock
By Chris McCullough
ADMINISTRATORS called in to rescue County Armagh agricultural firm Redrock Engineering Ltd have had to made redundant 54 out of the 80 staff with immediate effect.
Redrock Engineering Ltd directors called in the administrators last week to help save the company after it hit major financial difficulties due to the current economic downturn.
The company has been in business for more than 30 years and is well-known globally for its large portfolio of agricultural implements and more recently its range of telehandlers.
Confirming the job losses, a spokesperson for the administrators said: "We can confirm 54 jobs at Redrock have been made redundant following talks with the company."
Concerns still remain as to whether a buyer can be found for the business. Redrock dealers around the Province were still waiting almost a week after it went into administration for guidance on taking new orders or if current orders will be honoured.
One dealer said: "With the current redundancies we are not sure if orders can be honoured or if we can take on new orders. It's a bit confusing at the moment."
However, FarmWeek has learned that manufacturing at Redrock did recommence on Wednesday morning of this week."
